Hi, the reason for misshaped zucchini is normally poor pollination. Either because a lack of flowering male flowers (beginning of the season) or excessive rainfall in summer. (We are in the Netherlands, so we get plenty of that)
We prefere the kinds with heavy foliage as it protects the flowers against rain. When alternating heavy foliage with more open style plants we get the best polinating results and least fungal problems.
